Since I promised a real entry, I must now deliver. It’s been a long time since I have updated on anything that has happened in my life, but I will keep it brief.

In the fall, which seems so far away and almost foreign to me right now, I participated in marching band. I am pretty sure I promised myself that I would never do that, but I did, and I am better for it. At least I think I better for it. It was interesting to say the least. Penn Manor was intense, Pitt is like… ehh, whatever. Everyone was complaining at band camp and I was like “are you kidding?”. It was fun though. And I attempted to play the mellophone which was complete and terrifying switch from my homeland of woodwinds. For the longest time, our arranger would tune us before the games and I would freeze up and not even be able to play the tuning note for him. My favorite though, is the time the barge horn went off as I finally found the pitch. Go me. He didn’t think I could play at all for a very long time. Amazingly, I wasn’t as horrible as I assume he thought I was. And the director is amazing.

And I am with my favorite people at band. All of my friends. It’s pretty amazing. I apparently gravitate towards the band kids, despite the fact that I wasn’t in band for half of my college career.

Fall semester was pretty good, all in all. Nothing terribly exciting to report other than that.

Christmas break was just what I needed. It was great to be able to catch up with all of the people that are so important in my life. My family and my friends. And of course, I got to see Dallas a couple times over break. I also spent a week of it at home in bed due to contracting the flu. Go me. My body really knows how to plan these things.

The biggest change this semester, other than classes (which is obvious), is that Dallas and Kara are both studying in Spain and we got a psychotic new roommate. She drives everyone insane, even more than the other one. Ugh. I miss Dallas a lot, but what can you do?

For Spring Break, Elizabeth and I trekked to Spain, Madrid to be precise, to visit Dallas and Kara. It was absolutely amazing. We saw so much in such a short period. Retiro, Rastro, Toledo, Segovia, numerous cathedrals, castles, so much! We stayed at a cute little hostal which turned out to be extremely close to the red light district. It was definitely the trip of a lifetime. I don’t regret the money I saved and spent to go. It was worth it so many times over. And I would love to go back.

It was amazing to see the girls and how they live as well. Words can’t even do it justice.

Now we are all back to the hum-drum school-life. I am actually working here as well. I work in the Biomedical Science Towers in a lab. I am starting a new project tomorrow working with triose phosphate isomerase and sensitivity in drosophila (flies). I’m super-excited. My boss is amazing. He and his wife, who also works in the lab, are expecting their first baby in like two weeks. So excited for that too! I seriously love my job. I was afraid that I was going to start to hate it and was referring to it initially as the “honeymoon period” of my job, but it really is an amazing place to work. I am blessed to have gotten the job there. I walked in the first day of classes for the term and there it was. It just felt like it was meant to be. I am just so thankful.

In other news, I am heading home this weekend for a banquet, among other things. If anyone will be around, let me know. I hope to see you all soon!

Guess what? It’s been 894 days since I joined Xanga. How exciting!?!?! Right….
